You are invited and encouraged to submit a proposal to lead a breakout session at the 9th National Self Advocacy Conference. Proposals must be received no later than May 15, 2008 and must follow the criteria listed below. Incomplete proposals, or proposals received after the deadline will not be considered. Notification of acceptance will be mailed on June 15, 2008.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

• All presentations should be 60 minutes in length
• All sections of the application must be completed
• There is no limit on the number of proposals you may submit
• Presentations may have multiple presenters. If you have multiple presenters, please identify the Lead Presenter on your application and include the name of all other presenters
• Be sure to submit the Lead Presenter bio (100 words or less) and a session description (no more than one page double spaced)
• Presentations must clearly identify with one or more of the educational objectives
• Presenters must be persons with disabilties and registered for the SABE 2008 conference (either via paper or online registration)

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES/INITIATIVES

• Eliminate institutions through the use of Money Follows the Person legislation, mentorship by self-advocacy organizations to individuals to assist in the choosing the support they need in the community.
• People with disabilities should be educated and educate others about issues that are important in their lives.
• SABE will be a political power house to work on legislation that effects people with disabilities lives.
• Equal employment opportunities for equal pay for all people.
• People with disabilities will have self-advocacy at all stages of their lives with funding to support state, local and national self-advocacy organizations.
• SABE will support affordable and accessible housing for all people in the community.

DEADLINES

All proposals must be received by May 15, 2008. Submission received after this time will not be considered.

Notification of acceptance will be mailed by June 15, 2008.
